Tatiana's Story.
We are delighted to share our latest case study – Tatiana’s Story.
Early last year, restaurant manager Tatiana, who works for one of our EAP subscribers, applied to us for funding for a dishwasher for her home.
When we contacted her, it quickly became clear that her needs were far greater than just a new dishwasher.
Tatiana loves to dance, and a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Angola to dance Ki Zumba was a dream come true. Sadly, she contracted a severe case of malaria, which led to blood poisoning and sepsis. Her illness was so severe that the only way to save her life was to amputate all four of her limbs.
After more than three weeks in an induced coma and a long period of rehabilitation in hospital, Tatiana was finally ready to start rebuilding her life.
She wanted to get back to work, and she was determined to dance again.
But NHS-issued prosthetic limbs simply wouldn’t have given her the mobility she longed for.
Her employer helped Tatiana launch a crowdfunding campaign to buy her more advanced prosthetics, but it ended with a shortfall of £20,000.
Hospitality Action covered that shortfall, enabling Tatiana to reclaim her mobility, freedom, and independence—and to start dancing again.
Tatiana’s support came as a direct consequence of her employer’s subscription to HA’s Employee Assistance Programme.
We can’t guarantee that every grant application stemming from EAP membership will be successful—all grant applications are strictly means-tested. But we’re pretty sure there aren’t many other EAP providers who can share a story like Tatiana’s.
