Fundraising for Hospitality Action has never been so important. Financial hardship, physical and emotional wellbeing, and the risk of homelessness continue to be the biggest threat to hospitality workers in the UK. We receive no government funding, so rely on the generosity of our industry to help support those in crisis. Today we shine the spotlight on one of our key corporate partners, Mentzendorff who consistently go above and beyond in their support. Read on for our interview with Bryn Fowler Tremayne, CSR Champion and Digital National Account Manager.
Tell us a little about Mentzendorff, your company culture and what makes it unique within the wine industry?
Since being founded in 1858 Mentzendorff is one of the UK’s longest-established wine importers, continuing to offer our customers and partner suppliers a “full-service agency” model; building brands with our support and guidance, and servicing all sectors of the UK trade.
We are uniquely positioned as a small footprint company with a big presence making us agile and forward thinking, being able to service all our customers, from small independent merchants to Michelin star restaurants with the same dedicated focus across the entire industry.
How does supporting Hospitality Action align with Mentzendorff’s values and goals?
At Mentzendorff we know that supporting the hospitality industry is essential to our success as a business. Supporting Hospitality Action with their focus on direct action and help for the people that we work with chimes in with our core values of Family and Community.
Through helping the wider hospitality community, we hope to maintain a strong, healthy trade with healthy and happy individuals working within it.
What do you believe sets Hospitality Action apart from other industry charities?
In short, I would say it’s their on the ground action and contact with people. There is no ‘speak to the manager’ about Hospitality Action. You have direct access to all the tools at every level. A key driver in wanting to support the charity in their work is that we love being able to see how we are directly helping those who most need it.
How have you supported Hospitality Action?
We have provided monetary support through the Summer Challenge, where we challenge our team to come together to virtually walk a route between some of our producers by tracking their steps and building our miles. We have also helped with raffle prizes and supplying wine for events.
What would you like to share with others considering supporting Hospitality Action?
By supporting Hospitality Action you are truly choosing to support a charity with a clear aim. An ambition to help those in an industry that many take for granted, to be able to work and progress in a career they love. You will be supporting people who would otherwise have no-where to turn. Just take some time to look at the stories of those they have helped, it is inspiring to say the least.
Many thanks to Bryn and everyone at Mentzendorff for their dedication to HA. If your workplace would like to do the same, we’d love to hear from you, please get in touch.
