Get Help. Support Services.

Our specialist support services help hospitality people tackle complex issues like addiction, financial difficulties, relationship breakdown, bereavement or mental health problems.

Support services.

Our range of support services helps hospitality people get back on their feet again after a setback. Each year we assist thousands of people through challenging times helping advise, signpost and support people dealing with issues like mental and physical ill health, relationship breakdowns, debt and bankruptcy and addictive behaviours.

There are two main ways of getting our help.

If you’re a hospitality worker who is not covered by our EAP, we may be able to help you on a free of charge basis and provide access to support services including legal advice and counselling, as long as you meet our eligibility criteria, contact us on 0808 802 0282 to find out more about starting your application today.

No matter what your circumstances, the most important thing you can do is get in touch with us. If you’re reading this page and you’re worried about an issue, please contact us as soon as you can, and we’ll will do our best to help you.

Family Issues.

Modern life can be tough. Relationship troubles, the children having issues at school or even a family bereavement can be hard to deal with, not least when you’re trying to support your family by working all the hours you can. Sometimes it can all get too much. But help is at hand thanks to our partnership with parenting experts Nest.

For individuals who are not part of our Employee Assistance Programme please contact our helpline on 0808 802 0282 to check you’re eligible for our help.

For those who are protected by our EAP there are additional services available to you including access to counselling services and downloadable fact sheets on our WellOnline portal. You can also contact our assistance line on 0808 802 2111.

Money & Debt.

Money worries can have a huge impact on our general wellbeing. It doesn’t take much to knock you off course and it’s all too easy to become trapped in a spiral of debt and stress. You may be eligible for financial assistance from our grants programme to help out with a one-off problem like a broken washing machine or boiler, but sometimes you need expert advice to help lift yourself out of the cycle of arrears and debt.

Depending on your circumstances we can point you in the right direction connecting you to a specialist debt advisor who will look at your finances and advise on the best solution for your circumstances.

In the first instance you could try partner charity PayPlan’s Diagnose Your Debt calculator. It’s designed to ask you a series of simple yes and no questions, based on the most common debt warning signs.

You can try it at https://www.payplan.com/diagnose-your-debt/

If you want to talk to us about your debt situation call our helpline on 0808 802 0282.

If you’re an EAP subscriber call our dedicated assistance line on 0808 802 2111 or visit our WellOnline portal to get further information. There are factsheets and useful contacts to help you take back control of your money issues.

Addiction.

No matter what form it takes an addiction can have serious repercussions for whole families, and sadly they can be common in our industry. Whether it’s the high pressure of service, easy access to drink or long anti-social hours, many people fall victim to some form of addiction or another.

If your employer subscribes to our EAP then contact your dedicated assistance line on 0808 802 211.

For individuals not covered by our EAP we can connect you with local services to help you tackle your addiction. As long as you meet our eligibility criteria we can provide support as you get back on your feet and return to work. Please contact our helpline on 0808 802 0282 for further information.

For managers, discussing a delicate issue like addiction with your staff can be challenging. The film below featuring chefs Phil Howard and Tom Kerridge is a helpful resource to help you broach the subject with your team.

Mental Health Concerns.

We offer support with mental health issues through our clinically recommended short-term brief focused counselling. If longer term support is required then our clinical team can help you access this through the NHS or other specialist services.

The most important thing is that you don’t suffer in silence, a call to us is free and confidential and we’ll do our best to help you.

We are here to provide a friendly ear and to help you access the help you need.

If your employer is an EAP subscriber, call 0808 802 2111 to arrange an assessment with our clinical team.

For people who aren’t part of our Employee Assistance Programme we can provide support provided you meet our eligibility criteria, call 0808 802 0282 to find out more.

Critical Incident & On-site Trauma Support.

When the worst happens, a well-drilled emergency response needs to kick in at every level of your business. In the hours, days and weeks following a traumatic episode and as operations slowly return to normal staff may still be coming to terms with what has happened.

Our critical incident support is made available for EAP customers at a reduced rate. However, any operator can access our unrivalled service designed specifically for the hospitality industry.

To find out more call 0808 802 2111 if you are an EAP client and if not email eap@hospitalityaction.org.uk and one of the EAP Team will contact you.
