Blog. Chefs' Dinner at The Lowry Hotel

May 22, 2024 | Author: Sophie Stevens

On Monday evening a fabulous team of the North’s finest chefs cooked up a storm for a superb fundraising dinner at The Lowry Hotel in our honour and raised a wonderful £18,000 to support those in the industry who have fallen on hard times.

Our thanks go to chef Paul Askew, The Art School Restaurant for hosting the evening. Guests were treated to a Champagne reception, kindly sponsored by Champagne PIAFF, before tucking into a fabulous four-course meal interspersed with insightful chef interviews.

Heartfelt thanks to:

Chef Simon Shaw, of El Gato Negro, for delivering a super tasty Starter; Coquilles St Jacques.

Chef Shaun Rankin, of one Michelin star Shaun Rankin at Grantley Hall, for treating us to a melt in the mouth Fish Course; Turbot, lemon verbena, caviar, dill, fermented cabbage.

Chef James Mackenzie, of one Michelin star Pipe and Glass, for his outstanding Main Course; InnSpire ale braised ox cheek, Yorkshire asparagus, marrow bone confit potato, ox tongue and garden lovage gravy.

Chef Danielle Heron, Osma, for completing the evening’s culinary experience with a delicious Dessert; Miso salted caramel tart with goats milk ice cream, apple jam, sorrel and elderflower reduction.

The Lowry Hotel team including General Manager Adrian Ellis, the chefs and the Events, Conference and Banqueting teams for their stellar support.

Champagne PIAFF, Hidden Vines UK and Bach95 for providing the beverages and to Hodgson Fish, Sail Brand and Strawberry Catering for supporting the course ingredients.

Finally, many thanks to all our guests who participated in the evening’s fundraising. As a charity we couldn’t do our work without you, and we can assure you that every penny that was raised will be spent wisely helping thousands of hospitality households facing extreme food and fuel poverty and poor mental health, associated with the increase in living costs crisis.

Keep an eye on our events calendar to see what events we have coming up near you. Or, if you’d like to host an event of your own to raise much needed funds for hospitality families in crisis, please get in touch.
