Blog. A winning week for Hospitality Action
September 10, 2021 | Author: Mark Lewis
Hospitality Action has just experienced the most extraordinary week, with our beautiful charity winning four awards across three awards events. I couldn’t be prouder of, nor happier for, my brilliant team.
Last Friday I was received the Special Award on behalf of the whole team at the Purple Umbrella Awards which was a huge honour. Fast forward to last night and I was again humbled to be recognised at the prestigious Public Sector Catering Awards where I was awarded the Special Contribution Award in recognition of our efforts to support the industry during the pandemic.
At the same time just across town, other team members were being honoured at The Charity Times Awards (think The Oscars of the Charity Sector) where we picked up the Digital Marketing Award for Invisible Chips and the much coveted Charity of The Year Award which is frankly mind-blowing for a small trade charity such as ours.
The past eighteen months have thrown up challenge after challenge - homeworking and Lockdown for all of us, home-schooling, shielding, illness and bereavement for some of us - but through them all, my colleagues have remained steadfast and committed to supporting the industry we serve. Many have been seconded onto grant-giving; and all have had to learn new skills and overcome unfamiliar hurdles.
The result: almost £2m and counting spent on helping many thousands of hospitality households.
We’re a small team, and we don’t receive any government funding, every penny we make we make ourselves which we can only do thanks to the unerring support of our fantastic patrons, trustees, ambassadors, corporate partners and fundraisers.
This week’s awards are a validation - as if all the heartfelt thank you notes we’ve received since last March haven’t been validation enough - of the fact that we've changed many thousands of hospitality lives for the better, through the pandemic.
To everybody who has contributed to our success, from the bottom of my heart, thank you.
We’ve got you.
