Blog. HA Launches Invisible Chips

July 13, 2020 | Author: Mark Lewis

At Hospitality Action, we like to think we know a thing or two about charity. We’ve been providing financial support to people working in hotels, restaurants, pubs and cafés since 1837.

But Covid-19 hit our industry like a sledgehammer. Overnight, Lockdown put millions of people working in hospitality at risk of redundancy and poverty.

We’ve done our best to support the many people whose lives have been fractured. Since March, we’ve helped thousands of hospitality families put food on the table and keep a roof over their heads.

But we’re still just scratching the surface.

What’s more, things are going to get worse before they get better. The statisticians are forecasting that unemployment will hit 10% of the UK workforce by the end of 2020 – and hospitality will be one of the worst-affected sectors.

Our response? Invisible Chips.

Hospitality venues are an intrinsic part of the fabric of our lives. They’re where we play out our biggest life events, from first dates to exchanging vows, and from meeting old friends to toasting the dear departed. But it’s taken Covid-19 to make people up and down the country realise how much they love their favourite pubs, bars, restaurants and hotels – and how keenly they miss them.

Our new fundraising campaign is asking the public to achieve something rather wonderful – by buying a portion of nothing. Purchase a portion of Invisible Chips, and you’ll be helping support people working in hospitality whose livelihoods are disappearing.

We want to bring a smile to people’s faces. God knows, we need the occasional smile right now.

Why chips?

Everyone loves chips – admit it, you love chips. Our Invisible Chips are 0% fat and 100% charity; they’re simple to prepare; they don’t take up freezer space ... and they’ll never go past their sell-by date.

So please: chip in, buy a portion of Invisible Chips, and help us support hospitality families in financial crisis.
